Summary: The Eastside church of Christ is seeking an Associate Family Minister who and is knowledgeable of the Scriptures and has been gifted to preach, teach, and equip the church members including teens for discipleship, service, and the challenge of growing the congregation. The Associate Family Minister will be a devoted follower/disciple of Jesus, passionate about helping others live and grow as disciples and making other disciples of Jesus. The Associate Minister’s life should demonstrate a passionate faith in God, a strong commitment to the Lordship of Christ, the leading of the Spirit, and the authority of the Scripture. The Associate Family Minister, under the oversight of the elders and as a member of the ministry team, will work and support the mission of the Lord's church at the Eastside church of Christ. The Associate Family Minister must be a model that demonstrates that he is a faithful Christian, and if married, the husband and father of his family that sets a proper example of Christian family behavior at all times. Responsibilities: Be accountable to the Elders. Able to preach at Sunday services (probably once a month or as necessary when other ministers are not available) – prepare and deliver scriptural sermons that are applicable, inspiring and are consistent with the mission of the Lord’s church and direction of the eldership. Teach the teens bible class that is edifying, motivating and promoting spiritual growth / maturity for a Sunday morning and/or Wednesday evening class Teach an Adult Bible study class during the year (up to one quarter) or teach a golden 60s class. Lead (if we have our own week) / or support the congregation summer camp session. With family and staff involvement: Organize intergenerational activities that reflect Biblical objectives. Organize and coordinate LTC and VBS with members actively helping ministries. Visit members, shut-ins, hospitals, nursing homes and visitors regularly. Glean contacts from other activities (I.e., Trunk of Treat, VBS, clothing give away, etc) Function as a valuable part of the ministry team and staff at Eastside church of Christ. Support staff meetings which will enhance and enable better relationships with God, each staff member, and the congregation including prayer sessions for church member needs. Provide status to the Elders concerning contacts, activities, issues, concerns, and needs during regularly scheduled Elders meetings. Available on days off for special circumstances, funerals, emergencies, etc. Provide spiritual guidance and counsel for members and others regarding their spiritual well-being. Difficult cases should be referred to trained Christian professionals. Be involved with weddings, funerals, and other type venues as requested based on Eastside policy.
